SMILE’s mission is to enhance continuity, independence and safety while striving to enrich the happiness and lives of individuals faced with developmental challenges.
The SMILE Group's Vision:
Since 2007, my commitment to advocate and support individuals who are challenged with developmental disabilities grew. It was during that time I learned my son faced similar challenges. At the age of nine, my son was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and with an Intellectual Disability. With my experience both personal and professional, I decided to embark on an entrepreneurship.
I have accessed community resources to gain insight and coping mechanisms for which I use on a daily basis. I have enhanced my knowledge of developmental disabilities, continued training on the philosophy of normalization, and attained a number of certificates within the field. I also am trained in the application of person centered planning in understanding the unique needs and individuals. I have worked with countless individuals who have a variety of physical, behavioral and verbal challenges. I am committed to treating people with dignity and respect.
